Random photos around the house

You know what they say about the best laid plans? The plan was for my granddaughter, Kat, to bring the baby over today for a "photo shoot"--she is already two weeks old! Alas, Amaya kept her mommy up all night. She is generally a very easy baby, Kat thinks she must have had a tummy ache. In any case, she is fussy today, so not a good day for photos. Darn it!!
But, because I promised pictures today, I snapped a few random things about the house. Please ignore the dust, nothing is staged, and obviously, no decorations yet. Well, I guess the first couple are decorations.

This is one of my most favorite things. It is an Indian family nativity. I am half Cherokee, and this speaks to my heart. Below is a shot of the family outside the cloche.
The figures are tiny, the tallest is about the size of my thumb.

Next is a picture of a console table in my living room, showing my collection of hearts. The one in front of the small picture of one of my daughters is actually a rock she found and gave to me, it is a perfect heart shape!

This shot is of one wall in my dining room. The door to the left is the laundry room, the door to the right is to the basement. I am planning to paint the laundry room door, but I had forgotten about it until I saw this photo!! The buffet is an upcoming project, to be chalk painted. Everything is smooshed together, because I sat the small TV there the other day on the way to storage, and there it sits. Should have moved that first!

This is a shot of Marvin and Sunshine on their sofa. They are big babies! If I am going to post photos, which I certainly am going to do, I simply have to clean house! And bathe the dogs. And  put crap things away.
Ok, just wanted you to know that I am learning to use my new camera, I am thrilled to pieces, and there will be lots of photos to come. As soon as I get my house cleaned up learn to use it better Hugs and blessings to all of you, my precious friends!

  2. Thank you, Marci!! The "babies" are sweet. That is their sofa, but I don't know who I am kidding, every piece of furniture in the house is theirs. Now I have to get pics of Tori and Mac, and the cats. I am having fun with the camera, it is so nice! I haven't even attempted the video feature yet, but I know I will use that a lot with the Amaya. Thank you for coming by. Hugs!

  4. Hi, Dani, so glad you stopped in! I have two other dogs, a lab mix and a Schnauzer, and two cats. All my "babies" are rescues, from one situation or another, but all bad. Frank, one of the cats, is a Katrina survivor. They are very much loved, and spoiled rotten, as all "babies" should be. Hugs

  5. Oh Sandra, I'm sorry Amaya was a little cranky today, but I'm glad you played with your camera anyway!! Fun pics to see and those two dogs...awesome! They pose pretty good!

  7. Yeah pictures.....how wonderful we get to see all of these precious collections. I can't wait to see more. I think the camera has a zoom on it where you could get closer to your objects. I've learned instead of trying to hold the camera...shaky hands for me....I set it on something. Am so sorry about the visit. I love all the photos. Enjoy. Merry Christmas.

  8. Hi,Joani! It does have a zoom, I hadn't tried it until after I took these shots. Wish I had done it before, as I used it to take a great photo of one of the cats. I am getting more comfortable with it---as I should be, since playing with it is all I have done all day. I am having so much fun! Thank you so much, it is great to see you here.

  9. I'm sorry Amaya couldn't come for a visit today!:(
That's one of the best things for you to do, taking lots of pictures and getting used to your new camera! The dogs look pretty comfy on that couch!
    Have a great weekend Sandra!

  10. Hi, Cristina, thank you for visiting! I was sorry Amaya couldn't come, too, but she was cranky. I think her mommy was worn out, too, so we will do it another day. I am taking lots of pictures, figured out how to use the zoom, which will be really great for close-up shots. The dogs are spoiled rotten, that is supposed to be their spot, but they go wherever they please, none of the furniture is off limits. That is why I don't have expensive things, I prefer for my babies to be comfortable, too. I hope you have a lovely weekend, too! Hugs, Cristina, I appreciate you!

  11. Marvin and Sunshine look so content. I'll have to show my husband your Cherokee nativity figures. His grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee, something he's very proud of. I hope your grandbaby will visit soon.

  12. My nativity is one of my prized possessions, I have never seen another like it. Please tell your husband I send greetings!
I am sure the baby will visit one day next week. It was a shame they couldn't come today, as we had lovely weather. Thank you for visiting, Dewena. Hugs and blessings, to you and your husband.

  14. It's nice to see dogs on the couch like the regular family members they are. When I applied for a couple of rescue dogs, they asked me what pets weren't allowed to do in my house. I said, "There are rules? The animals never let me in on that one!". lol

  15. My four-legged babies are definitely full-fledged members of the family! There is nothing off-limits to them, as far as where they can nap. They are all well behaved, but they know they are loved, and if Marvin (the huge white guy) wants to squeeze in next to me on the loveseat, that is fine with me. Although I am a big gal, and the loveseat is not big enough, so he has to put half on him in my lap, lol. I think he believes that he, Mac (the mmini-schnauzer) and the cats are all the same size. I am so glad you are a pet-lover, too! Thanks for coming by!!

  17. Hi, Angelica, thank you so much for coming by. I have never seen another nativity like mine, either. It was a gift from a dear friend, and I have no idea where she got it. I love it, though. It actually lives on my mantel year-round.
Believe me, the dogs were comfy on their couch. If they had not been, they would have gotten on my couch, or on the bed, or wherever they deemed more suitable. :)
Hope you have a great weekend!

  20. Hi, Manuela! Thanks so much for stopping in. I am going to post some more pictures of the nativity, now that I (kinda) know how to use the zoom feature on my new camera. Several people have asked about them. I think they are very unusual, I have never seen another set, and nobody seems to have, either. Hugs and blessings!

  21. What a lovely tour of your house. Sorry your photo session with the new baby didn't work out. It would have been great to see that beautiful little girl but it was fun taking a peek into your home and what you hold dear.

    1. Hi, Amy! I will get to take photos of her soon. Maybe by then I will have some decorations up. Possibly, lol. Doesn't seem much point, but I should do some, at least. I hope you are having a great weekend. Thanks so much for coming by!

  22. Hi Sandra, thanks for your visit! Your collections are beautiful, and I can't wait to see your buffet redone. What color are you going to paint it? I'm sure it will look great!

    Take care!

  23. Hi,Tracy, thanks for coming by. I don't know what color I am going to paint the buffet. I see so many great pieces painted beautiful colors, I think I want to do something like that, a pop of color!I am thinking maybe a sort of blue-teal shade. Sort of a Mediterranean blue, if you know what I mean. That would be a real departure for me, I am stuck in the wood-white-beige rut. Time to break out, if I don't like it,I can just paint over it! Blessings!

  24. Sandra, I am so thrilled for you. A new camera is the best gift. I can't think of anyone more deserving than you either. Thanks for invinting us into your home. I know what you mean about cleaning up first though. I can easily spend a week making things picture perfect before a photo shoot. I can't wait to see the after on your buffet. It is beautiful and looks like a lot of fun to paint. Have you decided on a color yet?

  25. Sandra, I know you're going to have fun playing with your camera... my sister-in-law once said if you don't disturb the dust you won't know it's there (smile). I like your Indian nativity scene.

    1. Hi, Sherry! I like your sister-in-law's view on dust! It doesn't really bother me, and nobody else sees it, so what's the point? (Smile) But it isn't much of a bonus in photos. I am so glad you came by! Blessings
