As for interesting things about me, Oh, dear! I hope some of this is interesting!
I am the mother of one son and four daughters. My son is the oldest, at 47. My youngest daughter is 25. ( I have been a mama a long time!) In addition to one son and four daughters, I have one grandson and four granddaughters, and one great-grandson and four great granddaughters. How cool is that?!
I was a Firefighter/EMT for 15 years. Aside from raising my children, it was the most rewarding thing I have ever done, and I dearly loved it!
I was Mayor for two terms of the town I used to live in. (don't be impressed, it is a VERY small town. But it was an interesting experience)
I am a Southerner to the core. I am half-blood Cherokee Indian, the other half is Irish. My spiritual beliefs are those of my Cherokee ancestors, and I am Cherokee at heart. I do think my (sometimes off-beat) sense of humor is from the Irish side. I love all living things, and I share my home with four dogs and two cats.
I love to cook and am an accomplished baker. I have owned two restaurants, one a small country diner, which was in a hundred-year old church building, and the other a large nightclub/steak house, with live county bands and a big dance floor. (but I don't, and never have, used alcohol myself. Don't like the taste)
At one time, I owned over a thousand cookbooks. I still have a large collection. I read them like other people read novels. I get ideas from them, but rarely follow a recipe exactly.
I absolutely love thunderstorms. And wood fires, fast-moving water, (especially waterfalls), and coffee.
That was my seven, but you notice that I managed to sneak a lot into those seven. One more, I don't talk overmuch in person, but when writing, I never know when to shut up!
I want to thank Marci again for this nomination! What fun to participate, and I am looking forward to learning more about my nominees!
Sandra

DeleteCongratulations Sandra on your fabulous award! I want to thank you for nominating me for Sisters of the World Bloggers Award. I am truly honored, but I must say that I am gonna have a hard time coming up with seven INTERESTING facts about my life. It's been rather ordinary so far. I'll post when I come up with something. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteGail.....no life is ordinary and I'm sure we will all enjoy your interesting tales and I can't wait to read them.

DeleteCongratulations Sandra! Thank you for sharing all those tidbits about your life. I really wanted to be a paramedic in my younger days. If my first marriage had turned out differently, I might be one right now. Anyway, how cool and exciting to have been in the resturant business. I would like to hear some more about those two careers (if you don't mind sharing). It sounds like you have a wonderful family. Please be sure to share some more pictures of them (especially your newest and let us know if she won the contest).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Taunnie! One of my daughters was a paramedic, but she gave it up, it was just too hard for her, emotionally. I loved my work, but she found that it was not something she could put aside at the end of the shift, and one has to be able to do that.I am always more than willing to share anything you find interesting. I do have a lovely family, I am blessed. I am still hoping to have new pics of the baby this week, but now she has a cold, poor baby. Thank you so much for coming by. hugs

Congrats on the award! I enjoyed reading all those interesting things about you. Mayor! I'm impressed small town or not. That's very cool!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks, Manuela, and thanks for coming by. Hugs and blessings.
DeleteCongrats! And I learned even more new stuff about you!! I can attest to the fact that you are an accomplished baker!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Danni, but I sure hope you are not basing that assessment on that loft of quick bread!!! I meant REAL baking, with yeast and butter and nuts, or fruit, the sort of thing that is braided and coiled and glazed and is a thing of beauty. Anybody can throw a loaf of quick bread together! But I hope it was edible. I had so much fun the other day, I am looking forward to getting together again!
DeleteThanks sooo much for thinking of me on this award. I will take it home and put it on my sidebar. Thank you!!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jana!! So glad you came by. There are lots of interesting "coincidences" in my family, like the one son, four daughters thing. My oldest daughter was born on my sister's birthday, my first grandchild on my birthday, my second grandchild on my husband's birthday, third grandchild on my mother's birthday!! And to make it better, my mother was born on HER grandmother's birthday!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra! I wasn't quite sure how where to write this... I just wanted to thank you for my HUGE mug and yummy treats!!! My youngest stole the teddy bear! It was all so sweet!! Thanks so much!!!! Hugs!!! Claire :)
